Vacancy Project Engineer Materials Research (FT)

Deon Research Centre is an independent research and testing laboratory for material and product analysis. We support companies with quality issues, product development, failure analysis, material selection, and solving technical problems.

Our clients come from various sectors, and almost every research question is different. One moment we are investigating why a plastic product is failing prematurely, the next we are comparing materials from different suppliers or investigating the cause of an adhesion, wear, or production problem.

We have a wide range of research and testing capabilities at our disposal, including microscopic and chemical analysis, thermal analysis, and various mechanical and physical material tests.

As a Materials Research Project Engineer, you are involved in the entire process: from the initial customer inquiry to the final conclusions and reporting. You discuss technical issues with clients and work with the team to determine which research and tests are needed to arrive at a well-founded answer.

• Discussing and analyzing technical customer inquiries;
• Translating a problem into a practical research or test program;
• Drafting research proposals and quotations;
• Coordinating and supervising material research and testing activities;
• Conducting research and tests yourself where necessary;
• Analyzing and interpreting research results;
• Establishing connections between materials, production processes, properties, and performance;
• Drafting clear technical reports;
• Discussing results and conclusions with clients;
• Monitoring the planning, progress, and quality of projects.

In doing so, you will work closely with our engineers and laboratory staff.

We are primarily looking for someone who is curious about why things happen. You don't need to have the answer to every technical question immediately, but you enjoy finding it out.

You have a completed Bachelor's or Master's degree, for example in Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar technical field.

In addition, we find it important that you:

• Have strong technical and analytical thinking skills;
• Can work independently and take responsibility for projects;
• Communicate easily with clients and colleagues;
• Work accurately and critically evaluate results;
• Can clearly explain and report technical information;
• Have a good command of Dutch and English;
• Are interested in materials, products, and production processes.
